my story
One of my fondest childhood memories is visiting my grandmother Emma Orton Leonard at Rietfontein farm in the Heidelberg district of Gauteng. My grandmother was artistic, bohemian, and unapologetically true to herself. And the best part about visiting her is that her clothes, shoes, makeup, and jewellery were never off limits. I was free to explore and create my own outfits in her bedroom, and this is where my lifelong fascination with beauty and style was uncovered.
Ever since those early days, I lived with an awareness of the beauty around us. I fell in love with the simple things such as vanilla candles, fresh linen, crushed lavender, organised cupboards, rooibos and honey in a favourite mug, a happy kitten purring. It is true what they say – life is not perfect but it is beautiful.
One of the most amazing things about beauty – I think – is that it can be shared with others. And after I experienced what a difference self-care and dressing well can make in terms of mental health, I knew I wanted to help women rediscover their beauty. This is when Emma Christina Style Consultancy was born.
Questioning and finding my identity in Christ played a big
part in my journey towards healing and embracing my
inner and outer beauty.
As an Image and Style Consultant, my heart is to remind other women that they are fearfully and wonderfully made by our Father in Heaven. Even though the world has its own standards of beauty, I think it is SO possible and worthwhile to fall in love with your dimensions and embrace everything about the way HE designed YOU. Yes you, you are made by design!
So, what sets me apart as a stylist? My natural sense of style, and theoretical and practical knowledge as an SA Image Academy qualified Image Consultant is paired with my background as a Chartered Accountant (CA).
After years in the accounting world, I am still passionate about personal finance and being a good steward of your finances. When you make smarter choices about your appearance, you can look good, feel good and take care of your budget, especially in these trying economic times.
